GED by Patsy Davis shows the pictured family descended from Robert Andrew Johnson who came from John Johnson b. 1803, SC, m. Fernaty Alford, b. 1813, Ga. The family of Joella Johnson goes back to different ancestors. The parents of Thomas Marion Johnson were Unknown Johnson and Mary Unknown b. 1798 - 1801 in South Carolina. With the similar names in the two families, one might wonder if the Johnsons born in South Carolina were brothers, or their wives sisters. They all lived in the same bend in Etowah County. --note by Travis Hardin.
Johnson Gidley reunion c. 1934
I do not know the exact date of this photo probably 1934. Maybe someone can tell me. It was a gathering of the families of Sara Ann Johnson and her husband John Thomas Gidley of Etowah Co., AL. Sam Johnson, George Johnson, Mattie Johnson Brown, Elieser Jane Johnson Alford and Sarah Johnson Gidley are children Robert Andrew Johnson and Mary Caroline Baldwin. They were siblings of my great grandmother, Joanna Johnson Tanner. It is probable that Robert Andrew Johnson was the son of John Johnson and Fernaty Alford Johnson and Fernaty was the daughter of Baldy Alford and his wife Elizabeth. Many of these families lived in the Alford's bend area of Etowah Co., AL.
